The National Cybersecurity Teaching Academy

Interested teachers should read the Program Description for each institution and the FAQ on this page before applying.

NCTA is a graduate certificate that prepares high school teachers to teach cybersecurity. It includes coursework on teaching cybersecurity, foundations of  cybersecurity, network security, and advanced topics.  Courses take place in the summer and are delivered online.

The National Cybersecurity Teaching Academy scholarship application deadline is
January 15, 2025.

NCTA is supported by a grant from the NCAE-C, the National Centers of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity, located within the National Security Agency.

NCTA FAQs

The NCTA program is for high school teachers who:

  • are teaching a cybersecurity course or
  • have plans to teach cybersecurity in the near future
  • have plans to build a robust cybersecurity program at their school
  • are willing to dedicate time to rigorous, graduate level coursework in cybersecurity

Each of the institutions has their own unique focus area. Please refer to each program’s Plan of Study for which course offerings interest you.

  • Cybersecurity course description
  • Copy of your teaching license
  • Copy of your college transcripts
  • Support letter from your administration explaining their commitment to continue offering cybersecurity at the school
