Post-secondary Opportunities for Students

CAE-Designated Institutions

The Center of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity (CAE-C) designation is awarded to regionally accredited U.S. institutions of higher education that meet rigorous requirements in their commitment to producing cybersecurity professionals who will reduce vulnerabilities in our national infrastructure. There are three CAE designations: Cyber Defense (CAE-CD), Cyber Research (CAE-R), and Cyber Operations (CAE-CO).

The program is sponsored by the National Security Agency (NSA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Federal partners include the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)/National Initiative on Cybersecurity Education (NICE), the National Science Foundation (NSF), the Department of Defense Office of the Chief Information Officer (DoD-CIO), and US Cyber Command (CYBERCOM).

CyberCorps: Scholarship for Service

Students attending specific participating institutions may qualify for CyberCorps Scholarships, which are funded through grants awarded by the National Science Foundation. Scholarship recipients are obligated to serve at a federal, state, local, or tribal government organization in an information assurance position for a period equivalent to the length of the scholarship or one year, whichever is longer.

Each of the participating universities has their own application/selection process. Students should contact the institution directly to get information on the requirements.
